When a pastime starts to feel like pressure

Open this when you want to cap a session, or when the time you spend no longer feels like a choice.

Ceiling before the deposit
A deposit limit caps what you can put in, so set it while you are calm. Switch it on before a session you have already budgeted for and leave it.
What is your worst case?
This one caps what a session may cost you, not what you put in. Turn it on when chasing a bad run feels tempting, so the night has a floor.
Time signals
A gentle alert tells you how long you have been playing, so a quick stop becomes an informed one. Set it at the start of any long session.
A full step away
Closing your account to play for a set stretch gives you distance from the table. Use it when a break, not a smaller number, is what you need.
Keeping the figures close
A reality check interrupts play to show what you have spent and won or lost. Switch it on whenever you want the figures in front of you as you go.
Four moves

You are ready to cap your play

By the end you will have a limit confirmed in your own account, set before you play.

Past the login screen
Log in with your email address and password, then open the settings area of your profile. Check that you are on the personal details tab, not the bonus one.
One field per control
Move to the limits section, where each control sits with its own field. Look for the tool you want rather than scrolling past it in a hurry.
Which cap fits tonight?
Pick deposit, loss or session time, depending on what you want to hold steady. Read the field before you fill it, since each tool works on a different part of play.
Did it save?
Save the figure and wait for the confirmation on screen, then check the summary shows the number you meant. If it reads wrong, ask support before you play.

You keep going after the fun stops

Noticing these patterns while they are small gives you room to act before money you need is gone. A limit set before play, or a pause, is the first step and it takes a minute.

Each line below is a pattern you may recognise in your own week.

  • Chasing a loss into the next session
  • Deposits you keep quiet from family
  • Playing past the point you planned to stop
  • Borrowing to keep the account topped up
  • Checking results at work or in bed
  • Feeling flat when you are not playing
  • Promising yourself it ends after tonight
The Hard Week

Call someone before the next deposit

Use this when the numbers worry you and you would rather not explain them alone.

National Gambling Helpline
Players and relatives can call the National Gambling Helpline at any hour, every day of the year, for free confidential counselling by chat or email. 1800 858 858 gamblinghelponline.org.au
Gamblers Anonymous Australia
Gamblers Anonymous Australia runs peer support meetings across the country, where people who gamble, and the relatives beside them, talk in confidence and hear how others stopped. gaaustralia.org.au
National Debt Helpline
For gambling debt, the National Debt Helpline gives free financial counselling from Monday to Friday between 9:30 and 16:30, and it keeps the conversation private. ndh.org.au

Choosing the length of your own break

Need a break of hours? A time-out is a short break you set on your own account, lasting hours or days. You switch it on from the account settings and the account stays closed to play until it runs out.

When a pause is not enough. Self-exclusion shuts your access to the account for a long period, not a night. You arrange it through your account or the support team, and it holds for the whole period without being lifted early.

Choose a three-month stop. BetStop, run by the Australian Government through ACMA, is the national self-exclusion register. Registration lasts at least 3 months and can run to a lifetime; joining takes about five minutes online and you may nominate a support person. betstop.gov.au

Help and firm stops

You have stopped enjoying it

You will know which request to make, where to make it and who answers when you call.

If I take a short pause, can I play again afterwards?+
A pause freezes your account for the stretch you choose, and play stays closed until that stretch ends. Once it runs out, access returns on its own unless you ask for something firmer. Reach support through live chat, email or phone if you want the stop to last longer.
Can the helpline also help my partner or my son?+
Yes. The National Gambling Helpline takes calls from worried relatives as well as from players, on 1800 858 858, every hour of every day. Counsellors there talk through the family side and point you to services near you, and online chat and email work too. You can also call Gamblers Anonymous Australia about their meetings.
How do I close my Cawino account permanently?+
Email [email protected] and ask for permanent closure; support confirms once it is done. Say plainly that you want the account shut, not paused, so nobody mistakes the request. Only one account is allowed per player, so a closed one will not be quietly reopened elsewhere on our side.
Where are the limit settings on my phone?+
Open the account area in the mobile version and you land in the same tools as on a desktop, deposit caps included. Pick an amount, save it, and the new cap governs your next deposit rather than the ones already made. Session reminders and reality checks sit in the same place.
Can I end a self-exclusion before the period I picked runs out?+
No. Self-exclusion runs for the whole period you chose, and we will not lift it partway through. Choose a length you can live with before you confirm it, and use the National Gambling Helpline on 1800 858 858 if the wait feels hard.
